philanthropy
Philanthropy is important to us at IRCulture.com. Indian River County provides numerous options to assist our community and the causes that are important to our area. There are a number of organizations focused on helping local residents in need and offering opportunities to those who may not otherwise have the resources.
The Community Youth Program offers kids on the Treasure Coast financial aid and programs for sports, music and mentoring. They strive to ensure that even children without financial means can still participate in activities they enjoy.
It is becoming more and more difficult for our youth to follow moral and positive paths with all of the temptations and lifestyles that can steer them wrong. The Boys & Girls Club of Indian River County creates a safe and fun atmosphere for kids to interact and learn the importance of being responsible citizens while interacting in a variety of activities.
Not every child is fortunate enough to have mentors in their lives. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Indian River County matches local children with volunteers who provide friendship, guidance and support. Sometimes a Little gesture can lead to Big things.
Every child deserves happiness and love. Hibiscus Children's Center houses and protects the abused and neglected children in our area. This non-profit depends on donations in order to continue providing the necessities needed to house and nurture the youth. Hibiscus gives these children a warm environment to flourish.
The proper health care is essential for both mother and child. Their health and wellbeing are the priority of the Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition. They offer programs and services to ensure that all resources are readily available.
As with all of these organizations, volunteerism is a crucial part of keeping costs low and maintaining a high level of quality services for our community. Whether it’s an hour a day or an hour a month, every gracious gift of your time makes a positive impact.
The ARC of Indian River County offers support and services to those with developmental disabilities. They focus on encouraging individuals to make independent decisions and utilizing their full potential. Assessments, training and education are all part of their programs protocol.
The American Cancer Society’s beginnings date back to 1913 when cancer wasn’t nearly as widely discussed or focused on as it is now. They have continued their mission to find a cure for cancer through millions of dollars raised for cancer research, advocacy and patient services. They offer educational materials and support groups and have many resources for those battling the disease.
The North Treasure Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross assists our residents after disasters related to fires, hurricanes and floods. They help the victims get back on their feet, provide shelter and emotional support.
Through the Indian River Habitat for Humanity, you can help build homes for those in need. The camaraderie that takes place eliminates the barriers of race, religion and social status that are often seen in our society. It is a group of people with the common goal of helping others and providing houses for those desperate to find a place called home.
Keep Indian River Beautiful (KIRB) is dedicated to the education of environmental issues and what actions each individual can partake in to make a difference in our ecology. Learn how to separate your recyclables, the keys to responsible boating and how to “adopt” an area for litter cleanup.
A monetary donation or contribution of your time can become a priceless gift to many of our residents. It is the selflessness of many philanthropic hearts that allows these non-profits to help so many in need.
