Recreation

We are fortunate living along the Indian River to have many great choices for recreation.

With miles of coastline, two inlets and the Indian River Lagoon, our area supports many types of marine recreation. Our Sebastian Inlet is known world wide for its top notch surfing and our coastline is host to frequent surf contests. You can take guided eco-tours, enjoy a day boating with friends, spend some time diving and see the world from a new perspective or try your hand at catching the big one fishing. Don't have your own gear? Check out one of the local rental companies for boats, jet skis, kayaks, canoes and all the accessories you might need for a great day on the water.

In our area we have many different parks to visit. Public beaches can be found all up and down the coast, many of which are full service with bathrooms, picnic tables and food nearby. Along the Indian River and on our mainland we also have a variety of parks where you can find exercise trails, picnic and shaded areas, boat ramps and even on/off leash dog areas.

If you're looking to get in touch with nature we have wildlife refuges and preserves with public viewing areas where you can see local plants & animals in their natural environment. Beautiful botanical gardens in the area serve as both tranquil places to observe nature and as stunning natural locations for local events.

Perhaps you're the type of person who prefers more activity in your recreation, you might want to check out sports in the area. We have golf courses, tennis courts, aquatic centers, skydiving, and even a skate park which are all open to the public.

We have vibrant visual arts at our local galleries, displaying many different mediums and styles. Outside of the galleries our area is also host to many local art & craft shows which are open to the public and are often held in public parks. Local theaters put on stunning live performances with broadway quality set design, singing and dancing. All of these great creative avenues are supported by our Indian River Cultural Council.

Our area is rich with history that you can see and learn more about in our museums and historical societies. Find out why we're called the "treasure coast" at our treasure museums, learn more about the citrus industry we're famous for, follow the history of art in our area or just take a step back in time while visiting our historical societies.

Last but not least is an active local nightlife. The local bar scene is varied with something for everyone, offering happy hours, ladies nights and other promotions. You can enjoy a night out dancing, listen to live music, or laugh until it hurts at a comedy night. Our local billiard halls offer pool and darts, or you could try your hand at gaming in our arcades.

We hope you enjoy all the entertainment there is to be found in our area, be safe and take care.
